Coach Eileen has always had a passion for helping others especially working with kids. Currently she works in a school where as an Occupational Therapist Assistant to help students who may have varying difficulties from ages Pre-K-8th grade. She says the best part of her job is watching the students carry over the skills they have been taught to help them achieve tasks that might have been difficult for them before.  Growing up, she always enjoyed playing basketball. She started playing basketball since I was in 5th grade. With parents who were initially against her playing sports, it took one of her teachers to convince her parents to say yes! From there the rest was history. She continued to play from 5th grade until her 1st year of college. During high school, as a freshmen she was able to play for her Sophomore team and as a Sophomore was able to play for her varsity team. Her biggest achievement during this time was being named “Women of the Year”. Fast forward 15 years, with a husband and 2 boys who are getting older, watching her son starting to enjoy playing basketball has definitely given her more of a push to be able to pair her love for playing basketball with teaching/coaching him and other children the game and hoping she can help them fall in love with the sport as well! Her philosophy with coaching is to motivate, encourage, and to teach children the fundamentals of the game as well as teaching them how basketball can shape their character to be better. Basketball teaches children how to work with others and how to work as a team, which is something they will continue to need to do as they grow up. Basketball is so much more than putting a basketball through a hoop, its definitely a character building sport which I am very excited to take part in!
